Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing begins the World MX2 Series on the podium

Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing has started the World MX2 Series in Losail, Qatar with a podium position. Romain Febvre finished third overall just the same as he did last year and his team mate Aleksandr Tonkov ended the day with fifth position overall. In qualifying on Friday both riders had bad luck.

Both riders took a good start but during the first lap Jordi Tixier lost control over his machine. Aleksandr and Romain were riding right behind him and weren't able to avoid him. Aleksandr and Romain both went down and had to start the race in last position. Both riders gave everything they had but in the short race they couldn't do more than a 14th position for Romain and a 15th position for Aleksandr.

In the first moto both riders started the race from outside of the top ten. Aleksandr came out of the first lap in eleventh position and Romain was in thirteenth position at that moment. Both riders were given everything they had and were making up positions during the race. Both riders were creative and managed to pass one rider after another and worked themselves up into fifth and sixth position. In the closing stages of the race they had a battle of their own and finally it was Romain who finished in fifth position and Aleksandr crossed the finish line in sixth position.

In the second moto it was Aleksandr who took a really good start. The young Russian came out of the first lap in fourth position and was riding in this position in the first couple of laps. During the race he was fighting in a group of riders with Dylan Ferrandis, Jeffrey Herlings and his team mate Romain Febvre, who came back strong after an around tenth place start. At one point in the race Aleksandr dropped back to seventh position but he kept pushing and managed to work himself up into fifth position in the closing stages of the race. Romain was riding just in front of him and both riders crossed the finish line in fourth and fifth position respectively.

Overall, Romain finished in third position and Aleksandr ended the day in fifth position. Next weekend the series continues in Thailand.
